telephoned At 9.20 for Dr Clarkson concerning my 84 year old mother. Her condition will cause her much distress over the weekend left to me to try and deal with . Most definitely changing her Doctor as this is the second this has happened and i have to say he is not very approachable. (very condescending)

Suggested improvements
i know these are challenging times but i did expect the Doc to ring back

The practice operates a same day appointment system. You have to call on the morning of the day you wish to be seen and you can’t make advance appointments. However, it is impossible to get through on the phone. If you have taken a day off work hoping to get to see a doctor you will be disappointed and will have to take another day off - though you probably won’t have any luck that day either!

Suggested improvements
- Answer the phone! - announce the times when you will answer the phone! - announce the times when you won’t answer the phone! - have some consideration for those who find mornings impossible!

Hi, just a few words about the current system. The reception staff with the exception of two, are basically very good and helpful. I have phoned up on there occasions wanting to talk to someone about the online repeat prescription service, which I have, but suddenly is not working. Phoned receptionist and she said she would put me through to her team leader who was apparently. too busy to come to the phone, number was left with her to call back, never happened. Phoned again a couple days later, she was in a meeting, was told she would phone back, never happened, phoned again next day was told she was not at her desk was told she would phone. My phone rang twice after 4.30 when I answered the caller hung up. In the words of doctor hook i have called the team leader Alice, as in too busy to come to the phone.and won't you please call again.. Online repeat prescription is a good thing freeing up staff. Does Mr Sean Quinn, practice manager ever read reviews, I think not. Over 16 staff and only one person to answer a simple query. Can t fault any other staff. Mr Quinn sort your staff out. ,

It is easy to complain but I have always found the Doctors and Reception staff to be very pleasant and professional. I have a motto; always smile and be considerate and you usually receive a reciprocal response. Ok the staff do make mistakes with my prescriptions, but anyone who has never made a mistake is a liar. The staff in Ballyclare Group Practice have a tough job trying to navigate their way through the career sick, the lonely, and the rude not to mention those with unrealistic demands from the under funded NHS, which incidentally is free, sometimes folk forget that. The same people will happily pay £££’s for drugs for their pets but moan they can’t get the free prescription they want. Before anyone thinks it - I don’t work for Ballyclare Group Practice. I do suffer a debilitating serious chronic condition. I do not share the criticism of others on this iwantgreatcare.org site but a word warning, the more folk knock our generally good NHS - be very careful what you wish for!

This is the most unreliable practice I’ve ever been registered with. Unlike many others out there, this one operates an on-the-day appointment system. The patient has to ring after 9 o’clock in the morning to try making a same day appointment. After giving an explanation to the receptionist about one’s private health symptoms, the patient is then instructed that a doctor will call back to discuss the matter further. If upon assessing the patient over the phone, the latter is deemed ill enough, he/she will then be offered an appointment for a doctor’s consultation. In my case, on numerous occasions, the consultant never rang back to speak to me. If they ever did, 95% of the time the doctor tried to wiggle his/her way out by not giving me an appointment. The majority of my diagnostics were made over the telephone and lately it’s been a common theme to be told to head to A&E if I’m unwell. Their diagnostic is as good as the latest online search engine. Doctors at this practice not only lack bed side manners, but, manners in general. They are absolutely lazy and useless. The staff at reception do not seem one bit interested in their job. This is a healthcare practice and yet one can wait over half an hour to speak to a human. No one is available to pick up the telephone past three o’clock in the afternoon. There’s a total lack of professionalism. The service is simply abysmal. I do not recommend this practice at all. A total waste of time and energy. Do yourself a huge favour, save stress, anxiety and anger by seeking healthcare somewhere else.
